This is the phone I own.
I hated it when I first got it.
Some of the basic features that are absent from BlackBerry sets still frustrate me to the max. But after using this phone for more than a year now, I qualify – certified and all – as a CrackBerry. The first thing I grope for in the morning, the last thing I put down before I go to sleep, this sleek, black Huron is my partner in crime. And for a reason, no doubt.
Keyboard, keyboard, keyboard
Yes, yes, I know – a lot of other phones are coming out with keyboards – they seem to be a dime a dozen (er mm, dime of the more-expensive kind). But this was my first phone that had a full featured keyboard. It is this little, almost overlooked feature of most of BlackBerry’s that gets taken for granted; not many full-keyboard phones are as easy to use as a BlackBerry keyboard. I don’t have to squeeze the life out of a key to press it, neither do I have to backspace a trigger-happy letter that got caressed by my fingers – the damn thing is just perfect.
But what about Email?
O yeah, BlackBerry’s are supposed to be the king at Emails. Well, no not really. Not any more at least. Thanks to the simple use of Google Applications, the need for a ‘push email’ system that the BlackBerry offers becomes quite redundant. I only use the Email function of my 8800 because I have it. Yes, it is good, and yes, I can do without it, easy. The time when Email was best served on a BlackBerry are gone as far as I am concerned. (I will be writing more on this, with some tutorials on how to install Google Apps/Gmail etc on your BlackBerry and what not, God willing)
